Didn't thought I'd get another 1/12 scale Armstrong after selling both my White Engineer and Lunar Defence. But the JDF EMGY Armstrong is quite different. 2 main reason why I got it :
1. All the money made by selling this little bugger will go to donating for the 11 Mar 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami. So I am actually doing a good cause here while I can still own a cool toy.
2. It is an EMGY nonetheless and I collect EMGY. Pretty much speaks for itself.
The JDF EMGY Armstrong was available at Bambalandstore on 29 Mar 2011 and it was a fire/emo sales. All gone within 4 mins, some say 6 mins. Either way, these are limited! So glad that my fast fingers managed to get 1. The best thing is that there is no shipment charge which usually does for a singular 1/12 item sale.
Waiting time is 117 days to be exact and I got this little bugger on 26 Jul 2011.
One thing to take note is that this JDF is a 1G model. And from the earlier 1G model, it has 2 cloth pouches in front instead of Canisters which are for 0G model. Therefore, this JDF is unique in a sense that it has Canisters instead and it is a 1G model. Little surprises there. There were saying over at the ThreeA forum that cloth has higher manufacturing cost as compares to canisters. And apart from raising funds in Bambalandstore, a quantity are also shipped to Japan for free distribution to disaster victim in hope of perking them up a little. To keep manufacturing cost as low as possible is probably one of a key factor. Whichever way, I like variants and this is just fine the way I like it.
To continue on keeping manufacturing cost low, this one came in a plain white corrugate box with no printing on it. Open the box, and you see a printed peg card with an all familiar Ashley Wood's sketch, suspending an opaque white polybag, safely protected outside with bubble sheet. Remove the 2 staples adjoining the card and the polybag and you can literally pour out the Armstrong within it.
Armstrong only came with it's rifle/shotgun and that's about all the accessories it had. Nothing broken except that one of the foot came off. Just pop it back into the ball socket, no sweat.
I was impressed with this, as with all the 3A stuffs I've bought so far. The weathering is not substandard considering that 3A made no money at all from this. Kudos to the company really. Big boys should learn a thing or two from them.
Final 2 close up shots for scrutinizing the weathering, and also to close this entry. Barguest (and Fantome) de Plume are said to be shipping already last week. So I'm expecting to see them landing in Singapore this week. Can't wait to put them up in this blog when available.
Till then... adious!
