Revoltech : Macross Zentradi ゼントラーディ人 Regult Tactical Pod

It has been a long time coming. Always wanted to put this up on the blog but the initial set of pictures taken wasn't up to my expectations. Thought I'll come around taking the 2nd set of pictures but that never happen. Spent a little time re-looking the first set of pictures and chose a few that are able to work on.
And here it is, the favorite mecha in the entire Macross universe. I'm dead sure the inspiration of the design came from AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport) of Starwars. And like the AT-ST, the Regult Tactical Pod was from the bad guys faction called the Zentradi (ゼントラーディ人). The Pod is like their infantry, foot soldiers, cannon fodder and most basic battle mecha.

This particular model was produced by Kaiyodo (海洋堂) from its excellent Revoltech series. I don't think there is a particular scale the series follow by, but instead, offer standard height configuration. The Pod stood at approx 16cm (base of the feet to the tip of the main canon) when standing at normal standard posure. Leg straightened and all, it could just tip 18cm or so. Revoltech pride itself with many points of articulations as a primary selling point of the product and it is not different with the Regult. However, because of the structure of the mecha, articulations are precarious at some location and posing wise isn't giving the best experience.
When the legs were pry open in a "anchor" position, they tends to slide wider apart probably due to the weight of the main body module. With some effort, a proper pose can still be achieved. The set also came with a stand so that more pose can be achieve just like the one shown in the first picture in this entry.

I actually snagged 4 of it when it was available. Pod don't operate alone, it is not in the design for them to participate in battle singularly unlike their UN Spacy's Valkyrie counterpart. And also because I really adore the design. Hope to buy more of it when I have the chance to.

I'm a sucker for freehand detail sketch of the innards of mecha and when I found these pictures online, I have to add them to this entry. The Japanese text adds a nice touch though I know next to nothing about how to read them :)
And here are the Zentradi's troopers. Purple armored trooper is the sentry inside the mothership while the green armored trooper is the Mecha pilot. Note the size difference comparing to a humanoid, the Zentradi are monster race!
