Gunpla HGUC (No.197) 1/144 YMS-15 Gyan

Produced by the Zimmad Company, the YMS-15 Gyan was a rival of the Zeonic Company's MS-14 Gelgoog. The Gyan is a close-combat unit meant to fight alongside Zimmad's highly popular and powerful MS-09B Doms and MS-09R Rick Doms, which would provide long-range support. Besides having a powerful beam saber as its primary weapon, it also has a large, circular shield with 60 needle missiles and 25 hide bombs (space mines) which are used to lay traps for intended targets. The appearance of the Gyan, with its silver armor and Pickelhaube helmet design, has a strong resemblance to a medieval armored knight. This is further emphasized by M'Quve's fighting style, which is heavily based on fencing.

Such is how advance the Gundam is. Give it simple basic instructions and see it go. Wham BAM Boom! and a trial of Mecha parts littering the Exia's path in ruins.
The GN-001 Gundam Exia is a 3rd-Generation Gundam. Exia is designed to be a close quarters combat (CQC) type mobile suit. The unit is the successor to GNY-001 Gundam Astraea and one of the predecessors to GN-000 0 Gundam. Exia is piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei.
I wasn't too keen on Exia originally because I thought it's design has drifted too much from the original. Except for the red "chin", there wasn't very much that suggest it to be a Gundam. I belong to the old skooler. But after watching both seasons of Gundam 00, and building the GN-002 Dynames, I thought Exia is a pretty cool Mobile Suit. Got the Master Grade (MG) 1/100 version (not the Ignition mode model) and build it within a week.

Busy days at work and took a 2 months hiatus from the blog. However, it wasn't all work and no play, picked up (again) Gunpla modelling and am amazed how advance the technology went since the last time I put down my cutter and keep it for good about almost 20 years ago.
GN002 Dynames (pronouced "Dee-Nah-Miss") are the 4th 1/100 kit I build since coming back into the hobby. It is an astutely designed Gundam and is such a shame that it is only available as a NG (No Grade) for 1/100 scale. The previous 3 I build were all MG (Master Grade) and that means little worry of having to paint some of the parts. Stickers are also sparse for this kit. All in all, NG are the poor man's choice if 1/100 scale is the thing for you.
