From Wookiepedia :
AT-AT drivers were Imperial combat drivers specialized in operating the Imperial Army's AT-AT walkers. They operated in groups of two, and were overseen by a commander who also occupied the walker's cockpit.
Before all the big boys in 1/6 scale toys industry start jumping onto the 1/6 Star Wars bandwagon, there is only Marmit, from Japan, which made high quality, high accuracy 1/6 Star Wars action figures. But alas! only a few characters were produced ie Sandtrooper (Orange and White pouldron), Stormtrooper, Tie Fighter Pilot, Boba Fett and this AT-AT Driver. Rumors had it that they are gonna release a Royal Guard and Darth Vader but those 2 did not materialize.
This figure was released at least 10 years ago (or further back) and to me, it is still display worthy today. Partly so because still nobody else has done this character apart from Hasbro. But credit given where credit's due, the details on this Marmit version are still sharp and to point. However by today's standard, there are still plenty of room for improvement. One immediate area is to have the "chest-box" detailed and painted instead of having a sticker pasted over. Same goes to the back panel. The boots are another potential area for improvement.
However, the imperial logo on the helmet seem to be wrong. See here for comparison and the legit logo print. I have since sold my reworked Hasbro's AT-AT Driver.
Accessories wise, it doesn't come with much but an extra pair of hands and a E11 Blaster Rifle. As bare as how this trooper should be, the package relates appropriately.
I love the AT-AT Driver as it is one of the first Star Wars figures I bought (in 3.75") as a kid. So much so that I got 2 in my collection. One of it were bought lose without the spare hands and blaster. But I didn't pay a lot for it so it is ok.
There also wasn't a lot of screen time for this guy and they basically should just be tending the AT-AT (ie All Terrain Armored Transport) as the only chore. Therefore I did not make any action poses... just standing around should do for now.
Just waiting for Sideshow or Hot Toys announcing a AT-AT Driver. Then I will decide if these should be replaced but till now, I am happy enough with them.
