Garindan :
"I can tell you where to find them... for a price."
―Garindan
Garindan ezz Zavor, also called Long-Snoot, was a Kubaz who was considered to be the "greatest spy in Mos Eisley spaceport." was a male Kubaz who had been forced to work as a spy for the Galactic Empire. In private, Garindan loathed his Imperial overlords and sought to return to his clan and free his homeworld of Kubindi from Imperial rule. Prior to the Battle of Yavin, Garindan received news that his family was in danger. In an attempt to buy passage home, Garindan provided information about the location of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and R2-D2 to the Galactic Empire during a battle on the desert world of Tatooine. Despite the failure of that job, Garindan accepted another job to help Derrida the Ketton spy on the Rebel Alliance.
Hasbro released this 12" scale Garindan in their 2003 Blue Carded Star Wars Saga line. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first and only Garindan in this scale till this writing time in November of 2022. An obscure character that only appear in the film, A New Hope, for mere seconds surely no one other company will be attempting to make this again unless money making is not in their mind. I love obscure Star Wars character and even more when it is an alien species. This is the only chance to own a 12" sample. Found one on sale in Carousell and paid a grand sum of $40/- for it NRFB.
The figure is probably not screen accurate. It has an imperial officer type uniform underneath the cloak and also a Death Star Trooper's type belt, a pair of marching boots and black long gloved hands. He was only seen with the cloak over the blouse in the movie therefore nothing is known of what he actually had underneath the cloak. From various sources, there seem to be a grey blouse and black pants instead. Cloak also seem to be a full piece from top to bottom without clipping around the neck.

Accuracy is the last thing in my mind when I bought this Garindan. I practically paid the full $40 just for the headsculpt. Everything else need to be upgraded. Biggest challenge is to find the grey blouse and to make a new "accurate" cloak from scratch. The rest are available to be bought with more money. One day, just one day, the wheel will be in motion for the all new Garindan look but I think the availability of the grey blouse will be the trigerring point. Until then...
No rundown on the various department this time. Figure is waiting to be trashed except salvaging the head. It is moot to talk much about it any further. Rebelscum.com gave a pretty good pictorial review of this figure. Go over there to check it out if it interest.

Is there any chance this guy will be picked up by Sideshow or anyone else for a brand new entry? Probably not in my lifetime. However with the flurry of new Star Wars mini-series on Disney+, and if this guy made an appearance and make an impact, then his whole fortune in the 1/6 universe could change. Honestly I don't see that coming at all.
So to all SW 1/6 scale aliens species figures lovers out there, this is your (our) only chance. Headsculpt is the best there is - and the only one available. Grab one if you need to skip a lunch to do so, it is worth it at that.

Ahh Garindan species made a cameo appearance in the latest Disney+ "Andor" Season 1 Episode 12. Part of a rioter against the Empire that usually never has a good ending.
