Sideshow Toys 1/6 Scale Star Wars Return of the Jedi : Leia Organa Boushh disguise

Writings inside the Product Box :

After Han Solo's capture at Cloud City, the carbonite-encassed Corellian is taken by bounty hunter Boba Fett to the desert palace of Jabba the Hutt, wherw hw ua hung upon the wall as a living trophy. Unwilling to give up on Han, Princess Leia and her friends begin plans for a daring rescue. While Lando infiltrate the crime lord's ranks in disguise as a guard and Luke Skywalker sends the droids to the Hutt as "gifts", the Princes adpopts the persona of an Ubese tracker named Boushh and travels to Tatooine in disguise, with Chewbacca as her apparent prisoner.

Gaining an audience with Jabba the Hutt and still disguised beneath the alien helmet, Leia offers Chewbacca in exchange for a hefty reward. Overconfident and greedy, the Hutt forgets prudence in his excitement over the Wookiee's capture. He welcomes the bounty hunter Boushh into his den and, after some spirited haggling involving a thermal detonator, agrees to pay a respectable fee, ignorant of the threat he has just admitted.

With all the pieces in place, Leia now makes her move to free Han. Under the cover of darkness, she sneaks through the Hutt's audience chamber and activates the thaw cycle on the smuggler's wall-mounted carbonite block, catches Han as he pitches forward, out of the icy prison. Cradling her prone love, Leia removes her helmet and reveals her identity to Han, but a rumbling laugh from behind Jabba's curtain cuts short their reunion and any hope of immediate escape...

This figure was released 15yrs ago in 2007, the same year this blog was launched. Bought it the same year and paid just $2 shy of a 100 bucks. Those were the times where good quality licensed 1/6 figures are still available at an affordable price.
It is good call at Sideshow to make a helmeted headsculpt as separate piece and an un-helmeted headsculpt is included as well so that collectors can pose it with helmet on or off. Credit to the head sculpting that it does look recognizable as Carrie Fischer's Princess Leia's mug. However the sculpt lacks skin texture and finest in the hair sculpting. Painting is basic at best. Almost cartoonish caricature like actually. It is all forgiven as these are the standards 15 years ago.
Boots and gaiters have become sticky, common symptoms on vinyl parts. Used car interior vinyl cleaning gel to remove the grime off the foot wears. Stickiness returns after few weeks but not as bad as before. Rest of the gear surprisingly remain in good condition. Nothing broken or turn bad. Very impress.

Strictly speaking, this is the third iteration of Boushh in 1/6 scale. Hasbro is the first to have this character in 1/6 scale with their POTF2 12" figure line in a 3 Pack exclusive that also include a "Luke in Tatooine Gear" and a "Han in Bespin Gear". In 2003, Boushh was repackaged into the SAGA 2003 line and packed together with a more appropriate Han in Carbonite block as a twin pack. Both POTF 3 pack and the SAGA Boushh are essentially the same. SAGA version was replaced with a Barbie like headsculpt that does not even look remotely like Princess Leia. I felt it has taken a step back comparing to the older POTF2 version.
15 years on and really surprise that nobody else revisit this character. Sideshow has improve leaps since and asking for a Version 2 now I think is not unreasonable. Hope to really see an upgraded version in the near future.

Honestly speaking, the headsculpt is considered very good for its time. It is instantly recognizable as Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia Organa. In the hand of a master painter, the likeness will be even more uncanny. However when comparing to a Hot Toys Leia, the head seem oversize.
This is the first time I have mounted the spare head onto Boushh after all these years, and it is specifically for this photoshoot. Glad that I do cos it looks pretty good posing it this way. Will keep it like this in my display for now.

This Sideshow Toys version remains the most detailed 1/6 scale Boushh till date. 15 years old and standing tall. As mentioned, design is dated and with the current technologies, it can be lifted a few levels up. Of course the price will not be under $100 and possibly be in the $320 - $350 range. I will pay such money for a really good Boushh. Till that day arrive.
