Hasbro Star Wars 3.75" Snaggletooth / Zutton The Vintage Collection

From Wookieepedia :

Zutton was a Snivvian male was an artist who spent time in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina on the planet Tatooine in 0 BBY. He and his brother Takeel were present when the local moisture farmer Luke Skywalker and the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived in the cantina and was still in the building when the pair had a confrontation with the thugs Doctor Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba. Skywalker and Kenobi later passed Zutton speaking to the Nimbanel Mosep Binneed in the streets of Mos Eisley.

There is never intention to have this little guy in my collection. Was looking to make a post on the "famous 6" on Executor's bridge and need an upgraded Boba Fett. The only option available back then was the Target Exclusive Villlian 3 pack. In that set, this guy is named "Snaggletooth". And most recently, a dedicated carded figure of this guy was revealed and now it is named "Zutton". The most confused name in the Star Wars universe from a nondescript background character send the mind boggling.

And so together with a Tusken Raider, the Snaggletooth is the least loved of the 3. But after breaking up the package, I find the figure pretty well made and nicely painted. Took a close look at the recent announced carded figure, the 2 doesn't seem to have much different in terms of paint and sculpt. This little guy really stood the test of time. Villian set was released in 2012 and 9 years down, it stands as how it is. A feat achieved in the toy/collectible industry where constant upgrading is the key rule.

This is a pleasant surprise that it is such a good figure. It made the 3 pack a very good buy since all 3 figures are great in their own way. Top it off, I only paid S$21/- for the pack.

The cloth "belt", or sort, was sculpted in a way that it made a loop behind for it to slot the blaster. Quite unsightly when the blaster is not suspended there.

Articulation - 5/5
The head is on a ball joint hence it can achieve quite a good range of head movement. That allow a range of characterized pose. Waist swivel | Shoulder | Elbow | Hip | Knee | Ankle. Just WOW! High marks there.

Sculpting - 5/5
Take a close look at the first picture. This is a small 3.75" figure but the head sculpting... can you complain it? Again, just WOW!
Folding on the garb and that hair details all added points. Full score here.

Painting - 4/5
Actually it is already very very good paint job. Just to nit pick - the head can still have a bit of shade.
A good wash of dark gray on the garb really pops the details.
One major peeve is that at the joint area - where 2 parts joint together - seem the joint part wasn't painted. Scrutinize the knee area, front and back... the salmon pink stand out from the beige pants like a sore thumb.
Overall still an outstanding painting. It is a mass production figure, what do I expect? LOL!

I recommend this figure to any Star Wars figure collectors. Appreciate the details of this little figure and I am almost certain it will grow on you and you'd love it.
