Not many were written about Orion Pax (OP) and here is one of the more commonly “accepted” version from Transformers wikia :
Optimus Prime began his life as a young robot named Orion Pax, a simple dock worker during the Golden Age of Cybertron nine million years ago, with a girlfriend named Ariel, and a best friend named Dion. At the time, a new breed of robot had recently appeared on the planet - ones with new robot-mode flight powers that made Orion idolize them. Unfortunately for Orion, when Megatron, the leader of these robots, approached him with inquiries about using one of the dock warehouses, Orion fell for the deception and he and Ariel were critically wounded when Megatron and his forces then attacked in order to claim the energy stored there. Searching for someone to help them, the time-displaced Aerialbots took Orion and Ariel to the ancient Autobot Alpha Trion, who used them as the first subjects for the new reconstruction process he had developed - rebuilding the frail Autobot frames into battle-hardy configurations. With this reconstruction, Orion Pax became Optimus Prime, the first of the Autobot warriors, who took the mantle of leadership as the civil war against Megatron and Decepticons erupted, while Ariel was rebuilt into Elita One, the commander of the Autobot resistance on Cybertron.
Fancy a robot having “girlfriend”… I wonder if they got “married” eventually and how the baby robots comes about? Hmm….

Articulations :
Score > 4.2/5
Need there be necessary for more to say?
Ball joints > Neck, crotch, ankles
Swivel joints > Arms, elbows, wrists, waist, knees
The 0.8 point is deducted because even when the head is on a ball joint – which is great! – the movement is still pretty limited. OP couldn’t “look up” that much due to the design of the helmet and also the back protruding piece. Head posing is very important from a posing perspective and it actually enhances the mood of a stance very much. Hence the massive cut in score but still, not amounting to a full 1 pointer. The rest of the body’s articulation is just spot on, no complains whatsoever.
Sculpting & design :
Score > 4/5
Again, big points went to the excellent face sculpting. This small, this exquisite. There are light piping mechanism on the head but light doesn’t really filter in fully. But you get the blue eyes. Also commendable are the details behind the “windscreen” which are also painted silver. Hasbro is upping the ante I feel on this range of Transformers. OP overall is in very good proportion.
The bad, and the only thing I can nitpick or complain on are the hollow forearm. It is meant for transformation – in fitting in the residing fists. But I hated the sight of it to be honest.
Paintworks :
Score > 2.5/5
As you refer to the first picture of closeup, it isn’t hard to notice that the paint work are kinda bad and haphazardly done. Something you would come to expect of a mass produce figure. The yellow paint on the collar –bone lights are outright bad. Therefore, do not look at it closeup, from one arm length and everything looks spiffy. However, the face is painted almost perfectly.

Rest of the body paint - especially on the legs are some saving grace for the whole figure. OP score a marginal acceptance mostly thanks to the superb face paint.

OP came with a blaster as well as a ion-axe. 2 equipment to keep both it’s hands busy. Blaster was made to the right size and the design is just like the same primary blaster Optimus Prime always uses. The axe adds to the fun factor during posing. It is a good deal having 2 weapons for a deluxe figure.
This will get close to full score if Hasbro’s designer somehow can think of a way to combined these 2 weapons together to form 1 weapon.
Size :
No scoring for size. Deluxe OP is indeed very small as many collectors have spoken of. It stood almost same height as Trailcutter but because OP is smaller build (and has a smaller head size) as compares, visually it gives a small/tiny perception. That is OK since a it is a deluxe class and I’m not really insisting that it to match up with older deluxe class bot’s size.
Overall
Score > 3.8/5
I truly like OP as it is fun to pose with and it’s red, blue and silver color is almost always a winning color combination. One hope I has is for Hasbro to make it to at least a voyager size figure as this guy has so much potential. Bigger size means better detailing and enhances the already excellent articulations. And just to clarify here again, these scores here are purely based on robot mode as I never like or cared about their vehicle’s alternate mode. This may all change when MMC or TFC releases more of their Predacons. Mechanical animals are way more cooler than vehicles.
The final overall score is kinda wozzy as it is a 4, but not entirely so. 3.5 is a bit too harsh. So 3.8 made it... 0.2 off for the horrific paint apps on the 2 yellow lights on the shoulder.Accessories :

I picked up Orion Pax because it was intended to be picked up anyway. Just waiting for the discount price. Is an excellent figure if you want to really play with it because it is so flexible and poseable.
