Fansproject's Comera LER-05 combines robot, dinosaur (Velociraptor at it) and sleek fem fatale stature. Combines cold steel of a robot, mythical extinct prehistoric giant reptiles all formed nicely onto a supermodel toned body with tiny little waist and legs that runs forever. Arcee did not even come close. Yeah, such things do exist and you, me, and him can own it. So here she is.
There seem no back story about Comera and she is not canonized into mainstream Transformers (TF), it is a brainchild of Fansproject, a 3rd party TF manufacturer - non-licensed. But Fansproject and other 3rd party TF manufacturer (and designer) really gave collectors another dimension to add more variety to our TF collection.
There are of course purist who do not care about these. But never a bad thing to have variety.
Comera was released in 2016 but I only eventually got one in 2021 when a collector was letting it go at a deeply cut price brand new in box, together with Echara. They have to go in pairs isn't it. With one sexy sexy bot finally in hand, I kinda know now why this sisters pair is not as popular as how I thought they will be.
DESIGN - 2.5/5
ROBOT Mode - The aesthetic of a she-bot - from the front view - is of one high commendable point. And that is why we love it. But it is about all it is, unfortunately. Turn it around and there is this whole dino head hanging over her back like it was severed and barely hanging on the the remain of the skin. To reduce that effect, head, with neck, can be split into halves and open up from behind to make it looks like "wings".
Full blown tail hangs behind the butt will look sexy too. But too thick to be called sexy... Lacked of ability to articulate the tail left and right makes Comera a dull girl. Oh yes, tail can be split into 2 halves also. It will looks then like 2 arrows shot out of her butt. The back of Comera has really undone her for all the great things in front.
The eyes are worth special mention though. I believe reflective paint was used therefore with just minimum of light, the eyes glow in pictures. Sometimes we don't really need LED lighting and batteries to achieve glowing eyes. Saves the hassle for taking care of batteries and leak.
DINO Mode - Looking at the sides seem to see Comera in a motorcycle riding pose. Cannot unsee it no matter how. Swivable connectors on the wrists are moved into top position on the wrist for mounting of the big claws, that sits on Comera's shoulder in robot mode. Now you have a big claw on top of a small claw underneath. Not too bad from the front or from top-down view, big claws hide the small. But from the sides, you see extra.
Dino thighs are a little bit too sleek ladylike which is what she is. Bigger thighs will give the Raptor a more powerful look.
Feet will be rotated around to show the big signature raptor long curved "tapping" claw. It will be "tip-toed" which requires some patience for balancing the CG and for it to stand on its feet.

TRANSFORMATION - From Robot to Velociraptor vice versa is quite straightforward and simple. No stress, no danger of breaking anything during the process.
SCULPTING - 4/5
Fansproject's TF always has a wealth of details all over the toy. An arm is not just a piece of plastic joint but lines and designs are generously sculpted onto it showing a metallic and not plasticky look. Stark contrast from licensed mass market Hasbro's brethrens.
In Comera, there is no difference. Face sculpt to be highlighted for its fierce yet feminine look with an almost smooched lips adds to some naughtiness or playfulness.

In an almost anti climax, Comera's twin blasters are a letdown. Those looks at best an oversized toy gun with ultra big calibre. Lines are big and blocky. Ran in complete opposite direction from the bot's finesse.
Barrel of the blasters are hollowed out which is a saving grace, but still these looks aweful.
Same story with the twin big blasters that also act as base plate when both joints into a bigger flat piece. Simple flat design allow for such funtion.

PAINTING - 4/5
90% of Comera are original plastic colour. Some of the inset locations, on the thighs and arms, and the eyes are painted in metallic blue which are applied nicely without bleeding.
Dino head is painted in gold paint and again it is done nicely and clean. Gold paint down on the feet and claws all nicely done.
Lastly the brass (or gold) chromed tail adds a little glam although chroming is not exactly painting... oh well.
Not overly exciting but just standard, to-be-expected fare.

ARTICULATION - 2/5
Oh boy this is where Comera gets that slap across her face.
No bicep swivel. All arm poseability depend on the single ball joint on the shoulder. This shoulder joint, to its credit, has a higher than normal range for motion which almost... just almost compensated for the lack of arm swivel. But still left much to be desired when wanting to pose it with the energy sword.
No Dino head swivel (in Dino mode) which means the beast perpetually looks ahead or a teeny bit up, teeny bit down. Cannot understand why such a simple mechanism cannot be had.
No tail wagging ie each section can only swivel a teeny bit up and a teeny bit down. It has however a "ring" around the waist where the tail was hinged to and it allows a tail swing around the waist but it maintain its straight pointy tail.
Fact that both dino head and tail can be split in halves perhaps need to sacrifice the swivel function on the head and section articulation in the tail.
Very little ap crunch almost unnoticeable.
There are a double, maybe tripple, neck joint which give the head a bigger range of moving forward or backard. Ball joint o head to neck provide standard head articulation. Head can't be pose looking up. It probably has about 10deg or so of moving the head up. Because of this, cannot pose a lunging pose Comera will be looking down all the time.

ACCESSORY - 2.5/5
Somewhat uncommon in collector's action figures these days that Comera does not come with additional spare hands of various gesture. The pair that came stuck on the wrist (and cannot be removed) from the figure is all it has.
But Fansproject is generous with the weapons. 2x Pistol blaster, 2x long blaster - that also double acts as a base when combined together, and a energy sword.
Everything can be mounted onto Comera which takes away a need to store the items not used (and forget where it was kept years later). However, there is no choice of Comera wielding the sword and storing the twin pistol because the peg holes on both side of the hip-skirt are bit larger than the pegs on the guns. Them pistols cannot be peg in there. Therefore, only pew-pewing the guns and pegging the sword.
I am never a big accessory guy but without the ability to swap hands and hence no spare hands is a big negative for me.
A customary gun/weapon will suffice. So this meets one expectation and miss the other more important one in this category reflects the score.

Overall - 3.5/5
There is no big fanfare when Comera was released. She is not a cannonize character and is a brainchild of an unlicensed 3rd party TF Toy company from China. To the purist collectors, this will be a quick miss.
But there is a community who are open to new ideas, Fembots etc. I belong here that wanted variety in my collection. Bots that are small, mid size, big, and Fems.
Deep diving Comera can reveal alot of flaws and certain perculiar design approach but as a whole package, it is still a figure I will buy given the rarity of a good looking Fembot even till this day. I appreciate the curves and the shape of it that undoubtedly exude feminism.

Fembots design has not progress that much since then. Comera, together with her sister Echara, are still up there as one of the best looking female toybot design after all these years. WIth them riding on Dinobots group, more reason to get them. I'd recommend any TF collectors who wanted variety to go for these.
