Sideshow Toys Star Wars 1/6 Imperial Snowtrooper

From Wookiepedia :
Snowtroopers were specialized stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire trained and equipped to operate in frigid environments such as the icy planet of Hoth. When the Empire routed the enemy Rebel Alliance from its headquarters on Hoth, snowtroopers led by Darth Vader were involved in the battle.

Snowtroopers were known to have been handpicked from worlds already known to have frigid climate. That way the Empire would have troopers that were already used to the cold climates they were going to be dropped into. A must have for their elite corp. The snowtrooper armor was also thermal to trap body heat to help defend against the cold.

In my opinion, the BEST 1/6 articulated Snowtrooper ever made. Of course, there weren't a lot being made in this scale apart from the other one from Hasbro POTF2 series, which poses no comparison at all. So the question now is will Hot Toys do an incarnation? It doesn't matter for me anyway. Thought SST nail the Snowtrooper and I'm happy with it.
Bought this about a year plus after it's first release and I'm lucky the local distributor still have it in stock so am spared the secondary market prices. Got the non-exclusive version which is without the DLT-20A blaster rifle.

What impressed me most for this Snowtrooper are the very nice a glossy armor pieces. And SST still manages to add some weathering touches to them. The weathering isn't haphazardly done but are applied expertly to really show a worn gear. SST also did not fall into a "weathering trap" of overdoing it. Overall excellent.
Accessories wise, the set came with a standard round base but with a white rubber-terrain piece to be placed on top of the black round plastic base, to simulate snowy ground. Nice touch.
It also came with 2 extra pairs of hands - 1 pair of grab hands, I reckon are meant for positioning with the E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster which are sold separately (and which I did not get). The other pair - right fisted, left "2 fingers pointing" stance.
Finally, his trusty E11 Blaster Rifle.
Quite sparse in the accessories department isn't it? But the great looking figure somewhat compensated it already.

As described earlier, I got the Snowtrooper from the local distributor almost a year plus after it's first release. Somewhat shows that this guy isn't that much popular with the local collectors. I wasn't too impressed with SST's promotion pictures either but once the figure is in hand, it really blows me away. Superb figure.
If you are half hearted on whether to get the Snowtrooper, I say go for it before nothing is left.
